Devetashka cave is one of the biggest caves in Bulgaria. It is 2442 metres long, 60 metres high and its surface is 20.400 square metres.
It is situated about 15 kilometres north of Lovech, a town near Devetaka.
It was discovered in 1921 and you can see many interesting remains from the Neolith times.
In the past it used to be a military base, a fuel warehouse, food reserves and a raquet warehouse.
To get to the cave from Lovech, you need to head for the town of Levski, when you pass the turn towards the village of Devetaki and the bridge over the river Osam, you can see a grassy car park, this is where you can leave your car and follow the route along the river.
Before it was possible to get to the cave over the steel brigde but the bridge does not exist any more.
